During the inbound transit, PSCO was notified from Savannah Pilots that the vessel suffered a loss of propulsion. COTP Order was drafted and issued to the vessel. During the exam, the Master stated that carbon buildup in the fuel injector pump plungers resulted in loss of combustion on 4 out of 7 cylinders. Master stated that the excess carbon buildup occurred as a result of switching to low sulfur MGO. The main engine (19 years old), although overhauled in 2019, was not originally designed for any kind of low sulfur fuel.
