Whenever damage or deterioration to hull plating or structural members that may affect the seaworthiness of a vessel is discovered or suspected, the cognizant OCMI may conduct an internal structural examination in any affected space including fuel tanks, and may require the vessel to be dry-docked or taken out of service to assess the extent of the damage, and to effect permanent repairs. Vessel ran aground over the eastern rock dike on Fresh Bayou Canal near mile marker 14 while transiting southbound. essel shall submit a salvage plan to the local OCMI for approval prior to commencing salvage operations. Vessel shall submit a transit plan to the local OCMI for approval prior to transiting to the shipyard. Vessel shall be subject to a drydock examination by the local OCMI prior to departure.

Immediately after the addressing of resultant safety concerns, the owner, agent, master, operator, or person in charge, shall notify the nearest Sector Office, Marine Inspection Office or Coast Guard Group Office whenever a vessel is involved in a marine casualty. Vessel was involved in an unintended grounding on September 7th, 2024 at approximately 0230 hours (local time) on Fresh Water Bayou near mile marker 14. The company representative was notified by the master immediately after addressing the resultant safety concerns between 0230 and 0300 hours. The initial notice of marine casualty to the Coast Guard took place at 1415 hours, nearly 12 hours after resultant safety concerns were addressed by the crew.
