The arrangements for the distribution and utilization of oil used in pressure lubrication systems shall be such as to ensure the safety of the ship and persons on board. PSCO observed that the Main Engine #2 cylinder exhaust valve lubricating oil was actively and excessively leaking that makes it a fire hazard. Conduct permanent repairs to the satisfaction of the Certificate issuing authority.

Resolution: Received a Class report from NKK. Crew overhauled the Main Engine #2 cylinder exhaust valve and replaced the gaskets and seals with spares. Tested Main Engine and was found in good working order with no active leaking of lube oil. Cleared deficiency.
