Sampling points or detector heads shall be located in suitable positions in order that potentially dangerous leakages are readily detected. Each vessel vapor connection flange face must have a permanent stud projecting outward that has a 12.7 millimeter (0.5 inch) diameter and is at least 25.4 millimeters (1 inch) long. It must be located at the top of the flange face, midway between boltholes, and in line with bolt hole pattern. PSCO observed the permanent stud not located at the top of the flange face 46CFR39.2001(j) 16c 10c

Where the main steering gear comprises two or more identical power units, and auxiliary steering gear need not be fitted. Vessel informed that steering #1 gear control panel is not working. Resolution: Received, reviewed and accepted class report from ABS stating the deficiency was rectified. Damaged relays and contactors have been replaced, steering gear tested satisfactorily in all modes of operation.
