The condition of the ship and its equipment shall be maintained to conform with the provisions of the present regulations to ensure that the ship in all respects will remain fit to proceed to sea without danger to the ship or persons on board. The vessel struck the pier in Kalama, WA damaging hull plating in the vicinity of the 1P ballast tank.

0740: There shall be an alternative means consisting of an emergency fire pump complying with the provisions of the fire safety systems code. The capacity of the pump shall not be less than 25 m3/h.
