To assist in casualty investigations, ships when engaged on international voyages, subject to the provisions of Regulation 1.4, shall be fitted with a Voyage Data Recorder (VDR) as follows: Ships, other than passenger ships, of 3,000 gross tonnage and upwards constructed on or after 1 July 2002. Vessel VDR is inoperable. 74 SOLAS (14) V.20.1.4 (17ac).

Resolution: Vessel replaced defective LTS unit in VDR and conducted successful operational test. VDR is now fully functional. Receieved photographic evidence from vessel master.

Resolution: In accordance with NVIC 03-10 equipment installed onboard prior to 01JUL2010 may meet the previous requirements. Therefore the vessel is not deficient in regards to the lifejackets.
