Nonmetallic flexible hose must be in accordance with SAE J11475, nonmetallic flexible hose may be used in lube oil, fuel oil and fluid power systems only where flexibility is required. Hydraulic stripping pump hose fittings were severely wasted and some were completely broken.

Cargo tanks in which Grade D or E liquids only are to be transported shall be fitted with gooseneck vents and flame screens. Gooseneck flamescreen on independent diesel fuel tank was severely wasted. Flamescreen was broken off the gooseneck itself and filled with rust.

Resolution: Gooseneck flamescreen was replaced in kind.
