At each inspection for certification, the owner or managing operator shall be prepared to conduct tests and have the vessel ready for inspection of its fire protection equipment, including the following: all smoke and fire detection systems. The fire detection panel was exhibiting a fault, and the smoke detector in the crew accommodation hallway was inoperable. -46 CFR 176.810
