46 CFR 176.810(b); For fixed-gas fire extinguishing systems, the inspections and tests required by Table 176.810(b) of this section, in addition to the tests required by 46 CFR 147.60 and 147.65. The owner or managing operator must provide satisfactory evidence of the required servicing to the marine inspector. If any of the equipment or records have not been properly maintained, a qualified servicing facility may be required to perform the required inspections, maintenance procedures, and hydrostatic pressure tests. Vessel had no servicing history on either of the installed pre-engineered systems.

46 CFR 181.420(c); Only one pre-engineered fixed gas fire extinguishing system is allowed to be installed in each space protected by such a system. Vessel had 02 pre-engineered Halon Systems, only one was hooked up to pull station. Need servicing tech to verify system install.

46 CFR 181.420(b)(3) ; A means to reset devices used to automatically shut down ventilation systems and engines as required by paragraph (a)(3) of this section. Vessel could not demonstrate vessel shutdown/override with installed system.

46 CFR 180.68(b); A vessel on a lakes, bays, and sounds, or rivers route must carry: Three hand red flare distress signals… Three hand orange smoke distress signals. Vessel flares expired.

46 CFR 178.410; The weather deck on a flush deck vessel must be watertight. Vessel aft deck access to engine room leaking from any water on deck.

46 CFR 183.430; Each vessel must be equipped with at least two operable portable battery lights. One of these lights must be located at the operating station and the other at the access to the propulsion machinery space. Both portable lights batteries were completely dead, lights non-functioning for inspection.

Fuel tank vent pipes shall be installed to gradient upward to prevent fuel from being trapped in the line. Vent hose dipped below the tank top. Reposition vent hose support to have an upward gradient.

Through hull fitting and shutoff valves must be metallic. A decommissioned fresh water line had a sea valve installed after the section of flexible hose. Permanently decommission line with hull insert or capped metallic sea valve. Repair prior to 2023 operations.

A hatch cover must have securing devices and be attached to the hatch frame or coming by captive chains, or other devices of substantial strength to prevent its loss. Provide a securing device for bow hatch.

The number and identification of the items stowed inside, and their sizes, must be marked in clearly legible letters and numbers on each container for life jackets. Some life jacket stowage location labeling had fallen off. Replace as required.

Alcohol testing must be conducted within 2 hours after a SMI. Vessel did not have alcohol testing available. Provide ability to test within 2 hours after a SMI.

Provide four additional CG approved adult life jackets. Vessel limited to 99 passengers until corrected.

Replace no longer serviceable life rings with CG approved replacements. 46 CFR 180.70

Place and maintain a copy of the signed stability letter on vessel in location readiliy accesssible to crew and passengers. 46 CFR 176.306

Provide adequate label for fire station location on aft deck. 46 CFR 185.100

Provide operational portable lights for operating station and entrance to propulsion machinery space. 46 CFR 183.430

First aid kit contains expired or missing items. Provide adequate and approved first aid kit. 46 CFR 184.710

Install plugs in the two through hull fittings from the previous toilet piping arrangement IAW 46 CFR 179.350(c).

An adult life jacket must be provided for each person carried onboard. Missing 04 life jackets IAW 46 CFR 180.71(a).

Procure flares for the vessels route; 03 smoke and 03 hand red flares IAW 46 CFR 180.68(b).

Provide post type battery for floating water light IAW 46CFR185.726(d).

Install a 3'-6" lanyard with a corrosion resistant clip to attach the floating water light to the life ring buoy IAW 46CFR180.70.
