All seals and gaskets must be properly maintained to prevent leaks of flammable or combustible liquid, as those terms are defined in 46 CFR subpart 30.10, into the machinery space. Fuel filters in the engine room that have drain valves in the bottom do not have plugs in the bottom further preventing fuel from being drained into the bilge by accident.
