2050 (Operations of Machinery): Each emergency generator (EDG) shall be equipped with 2 sources of stored energy. Second means of stored energy is not capable of starting EDG. Battery set #2 failed to start EDG. All batteries were checked for proper voltage, all found sat.

Resolution: USCG Team attended vessel with NKK Class Surveyor and witnessed proper operation of both battery started EDG systems. New batteries were purchased for both starting sets. Shore electrical technician found low amperage on battery set #2 batteries.
