Design, materials, and construction of masts, posts, yards, booms, bowsprits, and standing rigging on a sailing vessel must be suitable for the intended service. The port aft shroud chain plate is reinforced with a welded metal washer that has a crack on it. Remove the cracked washer to allow further assessment of the chain plate to the satisfaction of the attending marine inspector. 46 CFR 177.330
