Design, materials, and construction of masts, posts, yards, booms, bowsprits, and standing rigging on a sailing vessel must be suitable for the intended service. The port aft shroud chain plate is reinforced with a welded metal washer that has a crack on it. Remove the cracked washer to allow further assessment of the chain plate to the satisfaction of the attending marine inspector.

Open flame systems for cooking and heating are not allowed on vessel built with general purpose resins. The portside bilge compartment has a cooking appliance connect to a propane tank hose. Decommission the cooking appliance to the satisfaction of the attending marine inspector.

The cognizant OCMI may require that a vessel and its equipment undergo any additional test or inspection deemed reasonable and necessary to determine that the vessel and its equipment are suitable for the service in which they are to be employed. Vessel crew unable to complete Work Instruction 31 drill due to weather conditions. Vessel must keep required deckhand onboard during all in-water activities until successful Work Instruction 31 drill completed in presence of marine inspector.

In systems and applications where flexible hoses are permitted to be clamped: (4) Two clamps must be used on each end of the hose. Vessel has only one hose clamp at each end of its fuel hoses. Add second hose clamp to each side of the the vessel's flexible fuel hoses.

A vessel is inspected for compliance with the standards required by this subchapter. Machinery, equipment, materials, and arrangements not covered by the standards in this subchapter may be inspected in accordance with standards acceptable to the cognizant OCMI as good marine practice. Several of the cotter pins installed in the turnbuckles of the vessel's standing rigging have points facing out creating a possible hazard for passengers.
