The owner, managing operator, or master of the towing vessel must ensure that the vessel’s fire suppression and detection equipment complies with parts 141 and 142 of this subchapter and is in good working order. Vessel had a pin hole leak in the fire main pipeline. Repair/ replace pipeline in the location of the identified leak and submit documentary evidence satisfactory to the marine inspector.

Breaker panels in the electrical room, auxiliary generator room, and main engine room were not properly labeled with correct load. Label all circuit breakers and provide documentary evidence satisfactory to the marine inspector.

Fixed firefighting systems are required to be serviced annually. The servicing report stated the CO2 bottles could not be weighed, to check for leakage, and the flexible loops needed hydrostatic testing. No corrective action was taken. Have all CO2 bottles weighed and flexible loops hydrostatically tested, or repleced.

All ventillation systems must be closed where the space is protected by a fixed fire extinguishing system. The two ventillation openings for the exhaust fans in the upper engine room, and two in the generator room do not have a means to secure ventillation. Provide covers for all four openings, IAW 46 CFR 76.15-35, and 46 CFR 136.
