At each inspection for certification all observed unsafe practices, fire hazards, and other hazardous situations must be corrected and all required guards and protective devices must be in satisfactory condition. Electrical cable connected to one of the battery terminals had sheathing that was ripped and exposed wires to the environment.

If the ship passes the inspection, the technician will issue a Communications Act Safety Radiotelephony Certificate. Each rescue boat and ring life buoy must be marked with Type II retroreflective material approved in accordance with 46 CFR 164.018 or other standard specified by the Commandant. The arrangement of the retroreflective material applied after March 11, 1996, must be as specified by IMO Resolution A.658(16). Vessel's life buoy contained incorrect retro reflective tape. Correct tape was available and fixed on the spot.
