Every steam pipe and every fitting connected thereto through which steam may pass shall be so designed, constructed, and installed as to withstand the maximum working stresses to which it may be subjected. PSCO observed valve on steam pipeline leaking steam. Faulty valve identified as "76T". 74 SOLAS (20) II-I/ reg 31.1

Where davit arms are recovered by power safety devices shall be fitted which will automatically cut off the power before the davit arms reach the stops in order to prevent overstressing the falls or davits, unless the motor is designed to prevent sucg overstrssing. PSCO's observed the power safety device on the starboard side was non-operational and was unable to cutoff the power before the davit arms reach the stop. 74 SOLAS(20 cons.)CH III / REG 34 LSA Code 6.1.2.7

Resolution: Power safety device was replaced, and proper operation of the device was witnessed by PSCO's.
