A gas carrier shall comply with the requirements of the IGC Code. An audible and visual alarm system to give warning on both sides of teh airlock should be provided to indicate if more than one door is moved from the closed position. Electrical motor room air lock doors did not alarm locally due to the malfunctioning alarm unit.

0610 - Lifeboats - Chemical tankers & gas carriers carrying cargoes emitting toxic vapors or gases shall carry, in lieu of totally enclosed lifeboats complying with the requirements of section 4.6 of the code, lifeboats with a self contained air support complying with the requirements of section 4.8 of the code. The STBD lifeboat's compressed air line failed during testing of the system. The hoses began popping and relieving air throughout the hose - 74SOLAS(14) III/31.1.6
