Cargo spaces on cargo ships 2000 GT and upwards shall be protected by a fixed CO2 system complying with the provisions of the FSS Code... The necessary pipes for conveying fire-extinguishing medium into the protected spaces shall be provided with control valves so marked as to indicate clearly the spaces to which the pipes are led. PSCO observed improper labeling of the 3-way cargo hold selection valves which could lead to release of CO2 into the wrong cargo hold. In addition labeling of smoke extraction sampling system of cargo holds was incorrect as per posted placard. Original shipboard installation drawing from 2008 labeled 25000T MPV also does not match placard in CO2 room. Class must attend vessel to rectify deficiency.
