The purpose of this regulation is to prevent the ignition of combustible materials or flammable liquids. For this purpose, the following functional requirements shall be met: means shall be provided to control leaks of flammable liquids. PSCO observed oil soaked lagging surrounding the main engine, fuel leakage on the quick closing valve supplying fuel oil to the main engine, and fuel oil accumulation under the #3 generator. Resolved 5 September 2022
Resolution: Received, reviewed and accepted class report from Lloyd's Register of Shipping stating the deficiency was rectified. Vessel cleaned and replaced all oil soaked lagging around M/E. QCV servicing M/E repaired with full remote closing function.

All ships of 500 GT and upwards shall have rudder indicators to determine and display rudder angle all to be readable from the conning position. PSCO observed an inoperable rudder angle indicator on the starboard bridge wing and the rudder angle indicator on the port bridge wing was off by two-three degrees. SOLAS 74(a) 2014 cons. Resolved 3 September 2022
Resolution: Received, reviewed and accepted class report from Lloyd's Register of Shipping stating the deficiency was rectified. Vessel received and installed new starboard bridge wing rudder angle indicator. Tested and found fully operational.
