This is not meant to restrict access to towing equipment such as winches, drums, towing gear or steering compartment equipment necessary for the operation of the vessel. Each cable and wire on a towing vessel must be installed to meet the following requirements: Cable hangers for overhead and vertical cable runs must be installed with metal supports and retention de- vices at least every 48 inches. MI find several wires in the overhead that were zip tied in place. Remove zip ties and permanently mount in accordance with current regulations. Vessels Diesel Fuel Systems must comply with ABYC requirements. ABYC states that the filters must be able to pass a two and one half minute heat test as defined by ANSI/UL 1105. This is normally accomplished with the use of a metal bowl heat deflector. The vessels main engines were both missing the heat deflectors from the fuel filters.
