The ship's launching and embarkation appliances must comply with the requirements of section 6.1 of The Code. Every launching appliance shall be fitted with brakes capable of stopping the descent of the survival craft or rescue boat and holding it securely. The winch brake launching mechanism from the position within the STBD side survival craft/rescue boat is incapable of stopping the descent of the survival craft/rescue boat and holding it securely. Vessel master to provide written procedures for lowering of STBD survival craft/rescue boat and photos of permanent repair to USCG and Class.
