Piping shall be of a design and construction adequate for the service for which they are intended and shall be so installed and protected as to minimize any danger to persons on board, due regard being paid to other hazards. PSCO oserved two exhaust leaks from the exhaust pipe within the main engine compartment. PSCO also observed that the fresh water pump was leaking approximately 2 cubic meters of water per day into the bilge tank.

0710 Fuel pipes which if damaged would allow oil to escape from storage tank having a capacity of 500L and above shall be fitted with a cock or valve directly on the tank capable of being secured from outside the space. While demonstrating the operation of the EDG's fuel tank quick closing valve, crew was unable to operate the valve for approx. 3 minutes due to corrosion. SOLAS 14 II-2/4.2.2.3.4
