Before the ship leaves port and at all times during the voyage, all lifesaving appliances shall be in working order and ready for immediate use. PSCO observed a structural deformation in battery charger on stbd lifeboat and lack of indicator lights to attest to charging. Request clarification from certificate issuing authority to the continuous acceptance prior to returning to the United States. SOLAS 74(a), 2020, III/20.2, Next US after Foreign, Code 40

Action required: 40 - Rectify deficiencies prior to next US port after sailing foreign

Resolution: Class NK: As per the owner's request, the vessel was attended for an occasional survey to verify the repairs of above malfunction. At the attendance, it was confirmed the Battery charger on Stbd. side lifeboat was replaced, along with a new battery.
