Propulsion machinery, including shafting must be maintained to ensure proper operation. Vessel reported momentary reduction in propulsion due to loss of the stbd main engine. Vessel safely moored up at the Brazos moorings and is awaiting arrival of technician to diagnose cause. Vessel TPO is to provide objective evidence/technicians report to USCG MI prior to movement.

Each towing vessel equipped with rudder(s) must have a means to monitor and control the position of the rudder(s) at each operating station. Vessel had a loss of steering while trying to maneuver. Vessels TPO or USCG Marine Inspector will attend vessel to clear deficiency after technicians report is submitted.
