The permanent, approved weathertight and fire-closing cover for the portside aft superstructure HVAC supply intake has been removed to facilitate the routing of temporary flexible ventilation ducting. The temporary closure installed around the ducting (consisting of thin sheetmetal) does not meet the structural strength or fire-rating requirements of closure.

However, the vessel's SMS section 08.01.08 "Garbage Incineration" states the following items are prohibited at anytime: polyvinyl chloride plastics (PVCs) and is only allowed in new incinerators that meet the requirments of regulation 16.6.1 of MARPOL Annex VI. The vessels incinerator was built before that regulation came into effect.
