Steering gear control shall be provided for the ausiliary steering gear, in the steering gear compartment. PSCO observed that the emergency operating solenoid on auxiliary steering gear was not operation.

Resolution: The activation pin for the #2 emergency steering gear solenoid was detached from the unit. The crew replaced the pin and properly secured it. Witnessed successful operation of the emergency steering gear.
