02105- Steering gear-The machinery, boilers, and other pressure vessels, associated piping and fittings shall be of a design and construction adequate for the service for which they are intended and shall be so installed and protected as to reduce to a minimum any danger to persons on board. PSCO observed the steering gear, while operated in local control on the #2 steering gear pump, drifting to starboard, approximately 5 degrees every 20 seconds. SOLAS 74 (09) II-1/26.1-17ac

Resolution: Vessel provided NKK survey record verifying repairs made to level guage low part flange. Flange bolts were retightened and class surveyor confirmed no leak of fuel oil and no oil at base of fuel tanks. Deficiency cleared.
