The bunker delivery note shall be accompanied by a representative sample of the fuel oil delivered taking into account guideliens developed by the Organization. The sample is to be sealed and signed by the supplier's representative and the master or officer in charge of the bunker operation on completion of the bunkering operations and retained under the ships control until the fuel oil is substantially consumed, but in any case for a period of not less than 12 months from the time of delivery.
Vessel holds a valid IAPP cert, no. 2021-50657-040, and is making 'H' code entries in ORB for bunkering of fuel oil into tanks for onboard machinery ("domestic diesel"), but no fuel oil samples for this fuel is being retained onboard as required.

Resolution: Received email from barge operations supervisor stating that no additional fuel oil deliveries have been received onboard to date, but sample requirement and procedures reviewed with appropriate personnel to ensure compliance moving forward.
A watertight hatch leads directly from the pump room to the engine room defeating pump rooms intrinsically safe environment. Required operator to post a sign on the door and amend operating procedure to keep door closed during transfer operations.
