In order to discharge ballast water in the United States, the vessel must use ballast water management system (BWMS) type approved by the U.S. Coast Guard, use an Alternate Management System (AMS), or ballast with water from the U.S. Public Water System (PWS) according to the schedule in paragraph (b) of this section. This existing vessel, keel laid in 18JUN11, with a ballast capacity of 19,043 m3 dry-docked in 23FEB2017 (entered), received dry-dock credit 10MAR2017 on Safety Construction Certificate, has passed its compliance date (extension) 01FEB2017, and has not installed a BWMS or AMS. Prior to discharging untreated water in the U.S. the vessel must comply with one of the approved ballast water management methods listed in 33 CFR 151.2035(a). (0940) 40c

A reserve source of energy shall be provided for the GMDSS radio installation (13.2). The battery installation shall be such as to ensure the highest degree of service, reasonable safety, and that when fully charged the batteries will provide at least the minimum required hours of operation (13.7). Vessel's GMDSS batteries were replaced in March 2018, but shoreside technician did not supply ship with battery terminals. Crew has fabricated make-shift terminals out of copper plate, but they are loose and cannot be adequuatly tightened.
