In addition to complying with the requirements of section 4.8, a fire-protected lifeboat when waterborne shall be capable of protecting the number of persons it is permitted to accommodate when subjected to a continuous oil fire that envelops the lifeboat for a period of not less than 8 min. Coast Guard examiner observed leaking high pressure hose on a vessel's self-contained air support system. System is unable to ensure the air in the lifeboat remains safe and breathable and the engine runs normally for a period of not less than 10 minutes. 74SOLAS(20) III/31.1.7; LSA Code 4.9.1

Resolution: PSCO received Class Survey Report attesting to the satisfactory repair and testing of the high pressure hose on the self-contained air support system in the lifeboat.
