A vessel must carry either a first-aid kit that meets the requirements in 46 CFR 199.175(b)(10) or a kit with equivalent contents and instructions. For equivalent kits, the contents must be stowed in a suitable, watertight container that is marked “First-Aid Kit”. A first-aid kit must be easily visible and readily available to the crew. Vessel owner needs to replace the Ibuprofen (50 tablets) and eye wash solution in the vessels first aid kit.

A vessel must carry one floating water light, unless it is limited to daytime operation, in which case no floating water light is required. Each floating water light must be approved in accordance with § 161.010 in subchapter Q of this chapter, or other standard specified by the Commandant, including, but not limited to, approval series 160.110. Each ring life buoy with a floating water light must have a lanyard of at least 910 millimeters (3 feet) in length, but not more than 1,830 millimeters (6 feet), securing the water light around the body of the ring life buoy. Each floating water light installed after March 11, 1997, on a vessel carrying only one ring buoy, must be attached to the lanyard with a corrosion-resistant clip. The clip must have a strength of at least 22.7 kilograms (50 pounds), and allow the water light to be quickly disconnected from the ring life buoy. Vessel has no water light available for use. Vessel is restricted to day light operations until replaced.

Piping, including valves, pipe fittings and flanges, conveying vapor, gas, or liquid, the temperature of which exceeds 65.5 °C (150 °F), must be suitably insulated where necessary to prevent injuries. Vessels cage does not cover the engine exhaust piping. Install a guard or heat shielding to prevent accidental burn of vessel crew. No persons are permitted aft of the Captains chair for a minimum of 30 minutes after the engine has ran until repaired.

Shutoff valves, installed so as to close against the fuel flow, must be fitted in the fuel supply lines, one at the tank connection and one at the engine end of the fuel line to stop fuel flow when servicing accessories. Vessel only has one propulsion engine and the f/o shutoff is installed at the engine. The f/o shut off is required to be at the tank. The shut off at the engine is optional.

Deck rails must be designed and constructed to withstand a point load of 91 kilograms (200 pounds) applied at any point in any direction, and a uniform load of 74 kilograms per meter (50 pounds per foot) applied to the top rail in any direction. Vessel was involved in a reportable marine casualty (grounding) Various handrails and rudder support stanchion were found damaged and requiring repair. Repair to the satisfaction of the attending MI.

Each must be buoyant, 60', non kinking, have a diameter of 5/16", breaking strength of 1,124 lbs and be dark in color if synthetic or of a type certified to be resistant to deterioration from ultraviolet light. Current life buoy line is white and cannot be proved as meeting the resistant to ultraviolet light. Replace with line meeting the regulation to the satisfaction of the attending MI.
