1740-oil discharge monitor/control system-THE SHIP MUST BE FITTED WITH AN ELECTRONIC DEVICE WHICH SHOULD BE PRESET BY THE MANUFACTURER TO ACTIVATE WHEN THE EFFLUENT EXCEEDS 15PPM OR AT ANY TIME THE 15PPM BILGE ALARM SHOULD FAIL TO FUNCTION. IN ADDITION THE ARRANGEMENT FOR THE EXTRACTION OF SAMPLES FROM THE 15PPM BILGE SEPARATOR DISCHARGE LINE TO THE 15PPM BILGE ALARM SHOULD GIVE A TRULY REPRESENTATIVE SAMPLE OF THE EFFLUENT WITH AN ADEQUATE PRESSURE AND FLOW. THE OILY WATER SEPARATOR CONTINUES TO OPERATE WITHOUT ALARM WHEN THE SAMPLING VALVE TO THE 15PPM BILGE ALARM IS CLOSED AND NO EFFLUENT IS FLOWING TO THE 15PPM BILGE ALARM.
