The purpose of this regulation is to prevent the ignition of combustible materials. Requirements shall be met to provide and control leaks of flammable liquids. PSCO observed oil soaked lagging and oil in purifier room. 74 SOLAS (20) II-2 4/1.1. 10c.

Special consideration shall be given to the design, construction, and installation of propulsion machinery systems so that any mode at their vibrations shall not cause undue stresses in this machinery in the normal operating ranges. PSCO observed multiple rubber ties on the main engine local controls due to excessive vibrations. Crew stated it has been in this condition for over one month. 17ac 74SOLAS (14) II-1/26.8

Resolution: Received, reviewed and accepted class report from NKK stating the deficiency was rectified. Class confirmed original spare air tube was replaced.

Resolution: Received, reviewed and accepted class report from NKK stating the deficiency was rectified. Class confirmed enclosed space entry drill was completed on 11JUL20.

Ignition sources shall be separated from combustable materials and flammable liquids. PSCO observed two five gallon buckets of fuel oil and a stack of cardboard next to the incinerator. 10c 74SOLAS(14) II-2/4.1.5
Action required: 10 - Deficiency Rectified
Resolved 11 July 2020
Resolution: Deficiency was corrected on the spot. Crew removed fuel oil buckets and cardboard from around incinerator and placed them in appropriate locations.
