Crew members shall be trained to be familiar with the arrangements of the ship as well as the location and operation of any fire-fighting systems and appliances that they may be called upon to use. Chief mate was unable to properly demonstrate a CO2 release in cargo hold #3 IAW posted instructions. Operated stop valve simulated release after bottles were charged and attempted to use safety pin chain to manually discharge CO2 cylinders instead of proper tool in CO2 room. 13JUN2024 Chief mate completed safety familiarization training on emergency arrangement procedures.
