The jacketed piping system shall include a means for collection of leakages and arrangements shall be provided with an alarm in case of a fuel line failure. PSCO observed the fuel ooil leak sensor on the main engine disconnected. SOLAS 74 (2014) II-2/4.2.2.5.2 60a

Resolution: A class report was issued satisfying the requirements. There was a fuel leakage from the #6 Cyl aft side. Fuel injection valve return pipe joint after change over bunker to LSMGO. Vessel repaired gasket reconnected sensor and tested satisfactorily.

Engineering › Fuel Oil Storage/Transfer System › Hose

0899-Each transfer pipe system used for the transfer of oil to or from a vessel with a capacity of 250 bbls or more shall be tested annually to 1.5 times the MAWP and not leak. Chief engineer stated the last test was conducted with air pressure only. Vessel must provide documentation atesting to liquid hydrostatic testing of bunkering hoses prior to bunkering in the United States. 33 CFR 156.170
