In tankers, electrical equipment, cables and wiring shall not be installed in hazardous locations unless it confroms to standards not inferior to those accepted by the organization. The PSCO observed loose and exposed wiring on light in vicinity of BWTS on lower level of pumproom, motor on top of BWTS filter on starboard side of pumproom, lower bearing sensor for #1 and #2 cargo pumps as well as #2 ballast pump, and manual call point at the top pf the pump room.

Resolution: A Surveyor to Lloyd's Register North America attended the vessel. The vessel staff inspected the mentioned points and tightened the cable glands and reinspected to confirm their integrity. The repairs cable glands were checked and found Satisfactory.

Fire fighting systems and appliances shall be kept in good working condition and readily available for immediate use. PSCO observed the following Class "A" self closing doors unable to close. CCR to conference room, galley to crew mess, air handling unit room, escape trunk lower level, fwd entrance to purifier room, and main stairs at main deck and a deck. additionally, observed vents in class b doors missing closing device for ships office and port side man deck access.

Resolution: The vessel staff inspected the mentioned door and closing devices adjusted the hydraulic automatic closing devises to make the doors close smoothly and fully. After completion of the repairs inspected all the points and were found Satisfactory.

The Coast Guard may grant an extension to the implementation schedule listed in 151.2035(b) of this subpart only in those cases where the master, owner, operator, agent or person in charge of a vessel subject to this subpart can document that despite all efforts, compliance with the requirement under 151.2025 is not possible. The subject vessel violated the Coast Guard issued ballast water extension letter by not conducting a ballast water exchange before discharging untreated ballast water to the waters of Corpus Christi, Texas.

Action required: 15 - Rectify deficiencies by next port
Resolved 21 June 2022
Resolution: Vessel returned to Port of Corpus after discharge ops at the CCLZ. Vessel conducted proper exchange and confirmed master was reminded that "Coastise Trade" was not an exemption available to foreign vessels.
