The machinery, boilers and other pressure vessels, associated piping systems and fittings shall be of a design and construction adequate for the service for which they are intended and shall be so installed and protected as to reduce to a minimum any danger to persons on board, due regard being paid to moving parts, hot surfaces and other hazards. The design shall have regard to materials used in construction, the purpose for which the equipment is intended, the working conditions to which it will be subjected and the environmental conditions on board. PSCO observed number 3 fuel injector supply valve closed, upon opening valve, excessive fuel leak was evident. 74 SOLAS (14) II-1/26.1 60 a.c.

Resolution: Received, reviewed and accepted class report from KOREAN REGISTER, PAE Wonsang, stating the deficiency was rectified. Surveyor stated satisfactory visual inspection of replaced fuel valve was satisfactory.

The condition of the ship and its equipment shall be maintained to conform with the provisions of the present regulations to ensure that the ship in all respects will remain fit to proceed to sea without danger to the ship or persons on board. PSCO observed missing and severely wasted deck grating material at and around the location of the forward deck winches. Master of the GLOVIS MELODY has requested replacement grating on 17MARCH2021 from ANGLO EASTERN Group (UK) stating that grating was in very poor condition at that time. 74 SOLAS (14)1-11/(a) 50 a.

Resolution: Received, reviewed and accepted proper documentation to include photographs from the Master of the vessel showing the deficiency was rectified. Vessel recieved and replaced grating, providing proper documentation of installation.
