The arrangements for the storage, distribution and utilization of oil used in pressure lubrications systems shall be such as to ensure the safety of the ship and persons on board. PSCO observed main engine experienced safety shutdown in relation to concurrent alpha lube oil alarm.

Resolved 5 May 2021
Resolution: Class tested engine up to slow ahead but could not safely test engine to 70+ RPM. Amended COPT to allow vsl to transit LMR with tugs assists. At 2000 pilot onboard reports engine is consistently running at 90 RPMS. Following pilot’s report, cleared def.
