IN TANKERS, ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT, CABLES AND WIRING SHALL NOT BE INSTALLED IN HAZARDOUS LOCATIONS UNLESS IT CONFORMS WITH STANDARDS NOT INFERIOR TO THOSE ACCEPTABLE TO THE ORGANIZATION. PSCO OBSERVED THREE TEMPERATURE SENSORS ON CARGO PUMP #1 TO HAVE DETERIORATED CABLE GLANDS AND HELD TOGETHER WITH MASKING TAPE. In tankers, electrical equipment, cables and wiring shall not be installed in hazardous locations unless it conforms with standards not inferior to those acceptable to the Organization. PSCO observed two intrinsically safe lights cracked or fitted with improper cable entry glands, fixed H2S and O2 sensors with improper cable entry glands, numerous hydraulically operated valves on cargo drop lines with improper cable entry glands, numerous cable runs deteriorated to the armor, bedding,or insulation located in cargo pump room. 74 SOLAS (2024) II-1/45.11
