10113- If the vessel's automatic identification system (AIS) stops operating properly, the person directing the movement of the vessel must report or cause to be reported that it is not operating properly to the nearest Captain of the Port, District Commander, or, if participating in a Vessel Traffic Service, to the Vessel Traffic Center, as soon as possible. The vessel's Master and management company had knowledge of the non-operational status of the AIS on 22SEP22 and did not notify the Sector St Petersburg COTP until 24 SEP22, one hour prior to arrival.-33CFR164.53(b) - 10c

Resolved 15 January 2021
Resolution: The crew cleaned the oil bath, replaced three o-rings, tightened the pipe joint, and renewed the high pressure gauge. Performed a steering test, no leakage was found. Class attended the vessel and verified the deficiency has been rectified.
