Before the ship leaves port and at all times during voyage, all life-saving appliances shall be in working order and ready for immediate use. Starboard forward embarkation ladder was found wasted by 50% just a few inches from the padeye. 74 SOLAS (20) III/20.2

Bulk carriers shall be fitted with water level detectors in each cargo and in any ballast tank forward of the collision bulkhead, giving an audible and visual alarm when the liquid in the tank reaches a level not exceeding 10% of tank capacity. Bridge alarm panel for water ingress alarms were making random audible alarms. Electrician tested cargo hold (CH) #5 and alarms (audible plus visual) went for CH #5, CH #1, and a spare. Electricians repaired wire connections and retested satisfactory. 74 SOLAS (20) XII/12.1
