To maintain a valid Certificate of Inspection, you must complete your annual and period inspections within the periods specified in 31.10-17(a)and(b) and your Certificate of Inspection must be endorsed. Sector Houston-Galveston Marine Inspectors attended the CBR 2306 for a scheduled Annual Inspection on 16OCT24. Marine Inspectors found the barge to be 4 days over its 3 month window for inspection warranting removal of the barge's invalid COI. After discovery of the deficiency, a COI inspection was conducted in lieu of an Annual inspection on 16OCT24. Receipt of the new COI shall be acknowledged by a Coast Guard MI prior to cargo operations.46 CFR 31.10-17a

If, during an internal structural examination, cargo tank internal examination, or underwater survey, damage or deterioration to the hull plating, structural members, or cargo tanks is discovered, the Officer in Charge, Marine Inspection, may require the vessel to be drydocked or otherwise taken out of service to further assess the extent of the damage and to effect permanent repairs. Aft bottom corner bilge knuckle plating has 4" inset.
