SIR OLIVER is a 1973 towing vessel. The Coast Guard has recorded 19 inspections since 1993, most recently in May 2026, along with 10 deficiencies, 2 operational controls and 1 casualty investigation in 1996.
Records from 1993 to 2026. Most recent: inspection, 13 May 2026.
Coast Guard record current through 23 August 2026, retrieved 5 September 2026 from PSIX. Every field on this page was recorded by the Coast Guard. Records for the Towing Vessel class in Maury's sources begin in 1980.
Every line above is a count of records the US Coast Guard wrote, or a date it recorded.
A blank resolution means none was recorded in this data; it does not establish that a
deficiency is outstanding. Years with a record are calendar years in which a record
exists, not years in service. What Maury does
not do.

The Coast Guard recorded this vessel and the following in the same
inspection activity — normally a tug and the barges in its tow. A recreational or
unclassed hull in the same activity is held and not published, so it does not appear
here: these lists are a floor, not a complete manifest.
11 - Life Saving Appliances › N/A - No Subsystem › Stowage and provision of liferafts
Issued 9 June 2026Resolved
Survival craft must be stowed in accordance with 46 CFR 199.130. 46 CFR 199.130(c)(3) requires liferafts to be arranged to permit it to drop into the water from the deck on which it is stowed. The mechanism installed on the vessel to meet this requirement is not functioning due to a lack of maintenance. Prove proper operation of liferaft launching apparatus to the satisfaction of an attending CG marine inspector.
Action required: 17 - Rectify deficiencies prior to departure
Resolved 10 June 2026
Resolution: Mechanisms were serviced and working properly.
07 - Fire Safety › N/A - No Subsystem › Personal equipment for fire safety
Issued 9 June 2026Resolved
Each towing vessel greater than 79 feet in length operating on an oceans or coastwise route not fitted with a fixed fire extinguishing system must have at least two fire fighter's outfits that meet NFPA 1971 and two self-contained breathing apparatus with at least 30 minutes of air (each). Components of the fireman's outfits are missing. Ensure complete outfits / ensembles are provided onboard to the satisfaction of an attending CG marine inspector.
Action required: 17 - Rectify deficiencies prior to departure

Issued 9 June 2026Resolved
The nature of drills conducted must be as far as practicable, be conducted as if there was an actual emergency. The crew could not efficiently don the onboard fireman's outfits. Perform a fire drill that requires the donning of the fireman's outfits, to the satisfaction of an attending CG marine inspector.
Action required: 17 - Rectify deficiencies prior to departure
Resolved 10 June 2026
Resolution: A fire drill including the use of two fire fighter outfits was witnessed by CG MIs

Ownership record
The Coast Guard's documentation record for this hull -- the Abstract of Title,
with its owners and liens as filed -- is not in PSIX. Ask, and Maury buys it from the National
Vessel Documentation Center, files it here with its date, and every reader of this page gets it.
