The inert gas system referred to in paragraph 5.5.3.1 shall be designed, constructed, and tested in accordance with the fire safety systems code. The system shall be capable of: Interting empty cargo tanks and maintaining the atmosphere in any part of the tank with an oxygen content not exceeding 8% by volume and at a positive pressure in port and at sea.
PSCO observed oxygen content in excess of 8% in tanks 1, 5, 6, 9 stbd and 1 port. Witnessed varying pressure in NGG deck supply line. Vessel is restricted from carrying cargoes requiring inerting as conditions of carriage. In addition, water sensitive cargoes are restricted.
