A small fire was reported melting a belt and various wires to the engine. Prove proper operation of machinery prior to returning to operation.

Towing vessels more than 65 feet must carry at least the minimum number of portable fire extinguishers set forth in table 46CFR142.230(b). A 10-B extinguisher was exhausted in putting out the above fire. Replace/recharge prior to returning to service.
