The purpose of this regulation is to detect a fire in the space of origin and to provide for alarm for safe escape and fire-fighting activity. For this purpose, the following functional requirements shall be met: fixed fire detection and fire alarm system installations shall be suitable for the nature of the space, fire growth potential and potential generation of smoke and gases... Vessel reported to the PSCDO that their smoke detector in zone 19 is inoperable and needs to be replaced. 74SOLAS(20)11-2/7.1

Resolution: The leaks in engine room for vital machinery components were repaired by replacing some gaskets and by tightening some bolts. The buckets were removed. General walk about the engine room carried and found satisfactory.

07 - Fire Safety › N/A - No Subsystem › Jacketed high pressure lines and oil leakage alarm

External high-pressure fuel delivery lines between the high-pressure fuel pumps and fuel injectors shall be protected with a jacketed piping system capable of containing fuel from a high pressure line failure. A jacketed pipe incorporates an outer pipe into which the high pressure fuel pipe is placed, forming a permanent assembly. The external braiding on high pressure fuel line on #3 cylinder is severed in two seperate portions of the line. SOLAS 74 (2004) II-2/4.2.2.5.2
