Any ship of 10,000GT and above shall be provided with oil filtering equipment and with arrangements for an alarm and for automatically stopping any discharge of oily mixture when the oil content exceeds 15ppm. A test of the OWS system was attempted but due to design of system and lack of cooperation from C/E, an adequate test for proper function was not able to be completed. MARPOL Annex I/Ch.2.16
