On an open boat, not more than one quarter of the freeboard may be immersed. Following addition of ballast and a canopy on the vessel, conducted Simplified Stability Test. Vessel passes for the carriage of 19 passengers (wind heel minimum) only if the upper coaming is included in the freeboard measurement. Coaming includes a passenger access point that is not watertight. Using the same material as the hull structure, glass the coaming access panel to the hull to make one continuous coaming prior to carriage of passengers. Before effecting the modification, provide our office with a written plan including repair details, fiberglass layup, resin type, etc, and attain approval to proceed by our office.

On passenger decks of a ferry the following must be installed: Bars, slats, rail courses or an equivalent spaced at intervals of not more than 4 inches. Provide remaining 04 canvas guards to fill space between lowest rail courses and the deck prior to the carriage of passengers.

Rails must be permanently installed except that the following rails may be removable: Rails in way of embarkation stations and boarding locations. Provide lifeline, wire rope, chain or similar in way of passenger boarding area prior to the carriage of passengers.

Fuses must be of the cartridge type only and be listed by Underwriters Laboratories or another independent laboratory recognized by the Commandant. Vessel has one 10 amp blade fuse used in the solar battery maintenance circuit. Replace the fuse with an approved fuse to the satisfaction of the reviewing Marine Inspector.

A vessel not required to have a power driven fire pump must have at least 3-two and a half gallon buckets with an attached lanyard with the words "FIRE BUCKET" stenciled on the side. Vessel only has 2 buckets.

Each ring life buoy must be marked in clearly legible block capital letters with the vessel's name. Vessel name on ring life buoy is faded and difficult to read.

The master and crew of a vessel will be familiar with the content of and have mounted at the operating station, emergency instructions containing the actions to be taken in the event of fire, heavy weather, or man overboard conditions. If no suitable mounting surface is available, they must be carried on board the vessel and available to the crew. No muster/emergency instructions onboard.

A vessel of more than 26 feet in length and less than 65 feet must carry a minimum of one life buoy not less than 24 inches in diameter. Vsl life buoy is not serviceable for their route.

Relabel lifejacket stowage location with proper number of lifejackets.

Install state registration numbers on vessel hull.
