Required alarms shall be fitted in such a position that they are immediately received by a responsible member of the crew. A tooth pick was used to continuously hold the “acknowledge alarm” button in, so that no alarm would be received. 74 SOLAS (14) II-2 Reg 4 5.5.3.2; FSS Code Chap 15 2.4.3.3.
