The machinery, boilers and other pressure vessels, associated piping systems and fitting shall be of a design and construction adequate for the service for which they are intended. PSCO observed on number 01 and 02 main generators a total of 14 high pressure fuel discharge lines disconnected as well as significant fuel oil accumulation in engine wells. Additionally, number 02 high pressure fuel sensor not connected.

The number of openings in watertight subdivisions is to be kept to a minimum compatible with the design and proper working of the ship. Where penetrations of the watertight bulkheads and internal decks are necessary for access, piping, ventalation, electrical cables, etc., arrangements are to be made to maintain the watertight integrity. PSCO observed roughly 01 inch holes on both port and starboard side watertight bulkheads. 74 SOLAS (24) II-1/13-1.1
