Electrical equipment, cables, and wiring should not be installed in hazardous locations unless it conforms with the standards not inferior to those acceptable to the organization. PSCO observed two lighting fixtures inside gas dangerous zone (one on the weather deck on aft side of dry powder room, port side, and one insdie compressor room, forward starboard side of #1 compressor skid) with shipping plugs installed vice certified safe cable terminations. Those two lights are to remain isolated until rectified. IGC Code (1993) 10.1.4

1160-Holds and Tanks - Gas detection equipment should be capable of sampling and analysing for each sample head location sequentially at intervals not exceeding 30 mins. Crew could not prove proper operation of gas detection. System never read more than 29% LEL when tested with span gas containing 50% LEL. IGC Code 13.6.8.
